The Green Deal is an innovative financing mechanism that allows an occupier of a residential property to pay for some, or all, of the cost of energy efficiency improvements through a loan based on savings on their energy bills. The main advantage of this policy is that the energy efficiency of homes can be improved without the occupier having to pay for the upfront costs of installing energy efficiency measures.

The most common energy efficiency measures to be installed under these policies are; cavity wall insulation, roof void insulation and external wall insulation.
